Starting a Business in Liberia
As starting and running a business is no easy feat, the Liberian National Investment Commission (LNIC) has developed a printable checklist of items, some important and some mandatory, that you could consider as you embark upon your journey to become an entrepreneur or investor in Liberia.

Additionally, there are a variety of ways to legally structure your business in Liberia, each of which contain a variety of implications.
Currently, the options are:
- Sole Proprietorship
- Partnership or Limited Partnership
- Business Corporation
- Limited Liability Company (LLC)
- Non Profit
- Foreign Corporation
- Foreign Maritime Entity
To further research options and determine which structure is right for your business, please visit the Liberia Business Registry (LBR) at www.lbr.gov.lr.
The LBR isa semi-autonomous government agency, which operates as a one-stop-shop to formalize or register all enterprises and provide information services to the public. This means that anyone wishing to register a business will have only one interface with the government of Liberia. It takes approximately 48 hours to register those registering and doing business in Liberia.
For your convenience, the procedure for registering a business in Liberia is available in the above referenced “Guide on Setting Up & Starting a Business in Liberia.”
